Piano Boat: A river cruise with a SteinwayCome aboard the Rachmaninov!

Return to overview

Come aboard the Rachmaninov — what may well be the world's most intimate concert hall. Founders Masayuki and Rhiana Tayama created The Piano Boat to bring classical music to new audiences on London's historic canals, with a Steinway grand piano at the heart of every voyage.

Designed and built to the highest specifications, the vessel accommodates up to ten guests for concert cruises — from Afternoon Tea Concert Cruises to private hire — departing from Harefield, Uxbridge. Masayuki Tayama, whose repertoire ranged from Rachmaninov to Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, gave the boat its name. Following his passing in 2023, Rhiana Tayama relaunched the Piano Boat in October 2024, continuing the vision they had built together.

A Steinway on board the Piano Boat creates a very special atmosphere on the river — one where the intimacy of the instrument and the beauty of the waterways become inseparable.
