What does a Steinway grand piano cost?

Prices vary considerably depending on model size (from the compact S grand piano to the D concert grand) and finish; they are positioned in the upper premium segment. Please feel free to submit a price inquiry to your desired instrument.

Is a Steinway grand piano a sound investment?

Yes, absolutely. No other grand piano brand is considered as consistently value-retaining; due to the continuous price adjustments of new instruments, pre-owned models also retain an enormous amount of their value over decades.

How long does it take to build a Steinway grand piano, and how much handwork goes into it?

The production of a grand piano takes approximately a full year, during which the wood must first be carefully seasoned for approximately two years. To this day, the vast majority of all production steps are carried out with elaborate, masterful craftsmanship by hand.

Why is a Steinway so expensive?

A Steinway is, in the truest sense, “worth the price,” as the costs are entirely justified by the lengthy seasoning of the wood, a full year of pure construction time, the finest materials, and masterful handcraftsmanship in Germany.

Why is Steinway considered the benchmark?

Our high-quality instruments meet the most exacting pianistic demands, which is why Steinway has established itself as the standard for concert stages around the world, as well as universities and institutions. The overwhelming majority of all concert pianists prefer a Steinway, as it offers them a familiar and reliable instrument for uncompromising pianistic excellence.

Should I purchase a pre-owned Steinway grand piano or opt for a new one?

The finest instrument is always a brand-new one; therefore, always compare a pre-owned grand piano in terms of sound and playability with a new instrument of the same model. If you decide on a pre-owned model, you should look for a voluntary warranty extension and preferably choose a manufacturer-certified instrument (CPO - Certified Pre-Owned).

How long does a Steinway grand piano last?

A Steinway is exceptionally long-lasting and designed to render faithful service across at least two generations.

Which grand piano size suits which room size?

As a general guide for room size: up to 30 m², the S, M, and O models; from 30 to 60 m², the A and B models; and from 60 m² onwards, the large C and D models.

How do I find out which grand piano fits my room?

In addition to the pure square footage, factors such as ceiling height, flooring (parquet vs. carpet), and the presence of windows and room dividers must be taken into account. Order our floor template to visualize the grand piano size in your room.
