With the Masterpiece 8X8 Limited Edition, Steinway & Sons pays tribute to the beauty of the earth and its treasures. A Steinway is made of some eighty per cent wood, conscientiously crafted, yet much of that craft is traditionally hidden beneath the elegantly polished black surface. This edition brings it into the light through eight of the world's most precious veneers.

The number eight, a symbol of good fortune, gives the collection its thoughtful limitation: only eight upright pianos of each wood are handcrafted at the Steinway Factory in Hamburg. Down to the last detail, every upright is harmonious — silver- or rose-gold-coloured fittings, a pearl set by hand into the keyboard, a numbered medallion, and the innovative dolce pedal that pays homage to the K-132 established nearly 120 years ago.
