Steinway Employee: Team Leader in the Surface Department
In the polishing department, Nicolai Fedder and his team give Steinway grand pianos that special glow. Working at Steinway & Sons was probably set in the foundation for the team leader, because even as a young boy, the piano factory was his second home. His father worked for Steinway for 48 years. Nicolai was immersed in the special atmosphere of piano manufacturing at an early age — and found it hard to escape. Nearly 20 years ago, in 2003, he started working for Steinway as a grinder and polisher, and now, as head of the Surfaces Department, he is particularly proud of his team.
