Ultra Black & Ultra White Limited Edition: Masterpieces in deep black and pure white

The Steinway Ultra Black & Ultra White Limited Edition combines the highest level of craftsmanship with a clear, modern design language that stands for purity, simplicity and exclusivity. These contemporary grand pianos, available in either all black or all white, are strictly limited to a total of only 52 instruments: 18 Model B and 8 Model D concert grands in each finish.

Ultra Black Limited Edition

The Ultra Black edition takes on a bold, all-black identity that feels both modern and timeless. Its rim is finished in Jet Black — a deep, saturated black celebrated in architecture and design for its dramatic depth. From the underside, stained black to match, to the black-stained soundboard and cast-iron plate in Liquid Black Yellow, the piano carries its monochrome look through every detail. Black PVD metal fittings extend the palette with a subtle sheen, while the engraved Steinway logo on the front is the only visible marking, leaving the sides completely clean. Even the keyboard follows the concept, with all-black keys completing a design that is understated yet instantly commanding.

Ultra White Limited Edition

The Ultra White edition offers a striking contrast. Its rim is finished in Pure White, a luminous, soft white often used in interiors for its clarity and brightness. The washed underside and white-stained soundboard keep the design light and cohesive, while the high-gloss white cast-iron plate at the piano’s core adds a sculptural element. Chrome metal fittings and studio double casters (without rubber) provide crisp accents, balancing the purity of the design. Like its counterpart, the Ultra White carries only a discreet engraved logo on the front. Its all-white keyboard gives the instrument a distinct character — simple, minimal, and full of presence.

Technology That Brings Music to Life

Every Ultra Black and Ultra White comes equipped with Steinway’s SPIRIO | r, the world’s most advanced high-resolution player piano. Using Steinway’s patented sensor system, SPIRIO | r captures every nuance of the hammers and pedaling, and SPIRIOCAST makes it possible to share performances in real time between Steinway pianos around the world. What you hear is not a recording or reproduction — it’s the instrument playing live, creating an experience that feels authentic, unfiltered, and immediate.

Symphony of Speed and Sound

The launch of the Ultra Black and Ultra White editions highlights a collaboration between two masters of craftsmanship: Bentley Motors and Steinway & Sons. To celebrate the occasion, Bentley introduced a Flying Spur Speed Mulliner finished in Arctic White with a Piano Black veneer interior — a pairing that mirrors the black-and-white contrast of Steinway’s new limited editions.

Both companies share a deep tradition of craftsmanship and an eye for detail that goes far beyond aesthetics. Piano Black is one of the most popular veneer options for Bentley, just as it has long been a signature finish for Steinway. The collaboration included an exchange of knowledge on woodworking and veneering, showing how both brands apply technology and handcraft to create objects designed to last for decades. The result is a partnership that celebrates precision, individuality, and design excellence in two very different but equally iconic worlds.
