Passion for precision – the Parts Production
Crafting by hand has played a key role in building Steinway grand and upright pianos since 1853. Nowadays, machines only take over when they can work more precisely than humans – and that’s in the production of parts. State-of-the-art CNC machines achieve precision to one tenth of a millimetre and in so doing increase the quality, longevity and power of sound of every grand piano.
Speaking of which, we produce over 90 percent of the 12,000 parts that a Steinway instrument consists of in our own factories - so we can keep an eye on the entire production process and always align it to the highest standards.
