Looking at the bigger picture – the Assembly
This step brings all the individual parts together, with the grand piano finally taking shape. The iron plate and soundboard are fitted into the case, bonding them for all eternity. At first, a cord is used to simulate the string line and also the height of the bridge.
The treble strings are made of steel while the bass strings have a steel-wire core wound with copper. They are fitted into the case diagonally so that the bass strings can be longer without having to alter the dimensions of the case. Longer strings improve the quality of the sound and offer more volume.
