150 years of Steinway Hall London: Grand anniversary celebrations
On 13 November 2025, Steinway Hall London celebrated its 150th anniversary. Founded in 1875, Steinway Hall London became the first European sales location – five years before the Steinway factory in Hamburg opened its doors. In this early era of the company's history, Steinway grand and upright pianos were manufactured in New York and shipped across the Atlantic to Europe.
To this day, Steinway Hall London remains a place where tradition, craftsmanship and music come together in a unique way – a space that has been making musical history for 150 years.
150th Anniversary Limited Edition showcases music history since the founding of Steinway Hall London
To mark the anniversary, the 150th Anniversary Limited Edition was created, a grand piano whose rim takes listeners on an artistic journey through British music and cultural history. The five lines of a musical stave are transformed on the outer rim into a stage for 67 iconic motifs: from the façade of Steinway Hall London (1875), they guide the eye through the decades – from Edward Elgar and Myra Hess to the Royal Albert Hall, the Beatles and Queen, to Girl Power and the Spice Girls.
Successful musical programme
The musical programme delighted the numerous guests with internationally renowned pianists such as Dominic Ferris, Elwin Hendrijanto, Charles Owen, Cordelia Williams, Danny Driver, Julian Joseph, Kathryn Stott and Madeleine Brown. The special anniversary was celebrated in style in London with magnificent piano performances.
