PHILHARMONIE DE PARIS LIMITED EDITION
A STEINWAY PIANO AS ICONIC AS THE CONCERT HALL IN PARIS
The 5th edition of the Steinway & Sons Concert Hall Series was launched during a spectacular concert by Steinway Artist Bertrand Chamayou on May 22, 2024 at the Philharmonie de Paris.
The well-known concert hall is celebrated by its state-of-the-art acoustics as well as its distinctive design. Whether the charismatic bird mosaic on the surface of the building, reminiscent of the work of Dutch artist M. C. Escher, or the striking rock-like structure of the hall designed by visionary architect Jean Nouvel – these are just some of the characteristics which served as inspiration for the design of this Steinway grand piano.
Parts of the surface of the grand piano including the outer and inner lid are adorned with an interpretation of the Philharmonie’s bird mosaic, meticulously crafted in silver leaf tones of grey and protected by a high-gloss, clear coating. The music desk is inspired by the façade of the building and reflects the perfect symbiosis between Steinway & Sons and the Philharmonie de Paris. Specially designed legs, lyre and prop stick, the ebony-stained inner rim, the dark silver cast iron plate, along with metal fittings and double castors in chrome underline the elegance of the grand piano.
The Philharmonie de Paris Limited Edition is limited to just 3 pianos of the concert grand model D and 5 pianos of the model B.
All grands pianos are equipped with the world’s finest high-resolution player piano system SPIRIO | r which allows for live performance capture and playback. A revolutionary blend of artistry, craftsmanship and technology, SPIRIO | r provides powerful new tools of expression and new ways to access, share and experience performance.
