Godmother Anna Vinnitskaya

Anna Vinnitskaya and Steinway & Sons met for the first time in 2003 at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, which she went on to win four years later. Now a professor based in Hamburg, Anna played at the Steinway factory in Hamburg as a student and was the first young female pianist to benefit from the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network. At the ceremonial unveiling in the Kleiner Saal of the Elbphilharmonie, two of her students delighted the audience on the Elbphilharmonie grand piano.

The longstanding friendship with exceptional pianist Anna Vinnitskaya is now being crowned with her new role as sponsor of an Elbphilharmonie grand piano. Anna finds the Elbphilharmonie building most striking for its distinct silhouette, which she can even see from a hill close to her home in the north of Hamburg. She is therefore also particularly keen on the curved music stand of the Elbphilharmonie grand piano, which imitates the striking silhouette of the extraordinary concert hall on the River Elbe.

"I can see so many elements of the Elbphilharmonie building reflected in this Steinway grand piano. When I play it and see the silhouette of the Elbphilharmonie within it, it feels truly special."

Anna is delighted with her role as sponsor of the piano and the support for the Elbphilharmonie Foundation that goes along with it. After all, she says, the Foundation makes the Elbphilharmonie accessible to all and makes it possible, for example, for school groups to enjoy an unforgettable visit.
