STEINWAY & SONS UNVEILS STEINWAY ROYAL ALBERT HALL EDITION

Under the presence of approximately 500 exclusive guests, the limited grand piano which Steinway & Sons has created to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Albert Hall was unveiled on 23 September. Hosted by saxophonist Jess Gillam, the audience enjoyed an unforgettable evening at the iconic hall and a very special ambiance to honour both the grand piano and the anniversary.

The first pianist who played the concert grand was the charming Aisa Ijiri, followed by Igor Levit who rounded up the event with a very personal performance. Both pianists are member of the famous Steinway Artist roster.

Craig Hassall, Chief Executive of the Royal Albert Hall, and Ron Losby, CEO of Steinway Musical Instruments, were thrilled that this extraordinary grand piano which features some of the iconic design elements of the renowned concert hall could finally be presented to the public.

After the concert a reception took place on the gallery and offered enough time to view another grand piano of the edition which is strictly limited to eight instruments and to experience Spirio | r each grand piano is equipped with. This revolutionary recording and self-playing technology enables pianists to record, edit, playback, search and save their performances in Steinway’s proprietary high-resolution format.

It was a great evening which all guests, media representatives and those who were part of this exciting project will certainly remember for a longer time.
