Steinway Festival
The International Steinway Festival takes place every two years and is one of the most significant events in the Steinway & Sons calendar. Every two years, children and teenagers meet from a wide range of countries to take part in a musical community with the festival concert as the highlight.
Without the pressure of a competition, the talented youngsters have the oportunity to perform in front of a large audience and to demonstrate their skills. The festival concert is usually held under the auspices of the Cultural Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and is always an extremely popular event for the audience. The number of participating countries has grown steadily over time. Today, Steinway & Sons can now also welcome participants from Asia, which means the event can truly live up to its name as an international festival.
17th International Steinway Festival
The 2-years break is over: It’s time for the 17 International Steinway Festival again and 13 youngsters are thrilled to travel to Hamburg in September.
They come from Belgium, China, Denmark, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Taiwan and Germany, and the number of participants is growing! This year, we will welcome young talents from Finland, Italy, and Norway, and Switzerland will be back after some years of absence. All festival participants are 1st prize winners of local Steinway piano competitions, and they are the best of the best.
The young talents and their families can look forward to an interesting programme, e. g. a harbour trip, an exclusive dinner at the Steinway factory, and of course a lot of fun. Without any doubt, the festival concert held on a Sunday morning at the Hamburg concert hall “Laeiszhalle” is the highlight of this event. It took place on Sunday, September 11, 10 am at the Hamburg concert hall “Laeiszhalle”.
